Dr. Thomas Unnerstall has been a board member of German utility companies for 15 years and is now a self-employed consultant, author and speaker.
He studied physics and philosophy in Germany, in the USA and in France and got his PhD in physics in 1990. He started his career at the Ministry of the Environment of Baden-Württemberg, soon becoming the personal assistant to the Environment Secretary. In 1995, he joined the energy industry, focusing on generation, trading, sales and energy efficiency. In the last years Dr.Unnerstall has worked mainly on the German energy transition, as a board member of a big utility and as an author writing about the technical, political and economical challenges of the future energy system.
